Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada will soon see a significant decline in immigration as the government attempts to fix its “mistakes.”

In a six-minute video shared on Sunday, Trudeau stated that since Canada’s population has grown “baby-boomer fast,” the government plans to temper growth by reducing the number of immigrants in the next three years.

“I’m going to let you in on what happened, where we made some mistakes, and why we’re taking this big turn,” he said. “Looking back, as the post-pandemic boom cooled and business no longer needed the additional labour help, as a federal team, we could have acted quicker and turned off the taps faster.”

Trudeau said bad actors and fake colleges have used the immigration system to obtain cheap foreign labour. He also pointed out that rental prices in major cities have dropped since the government capped the number of international students entering the country.

A day late and a dollar short. This buffoon and the liberal party have screwed this great country. I suppose it's not all their fault, we get the govt we deserve. Good luck trying to actually round up and deport people that over stayed their visa's or entered the country illegally.
It might actually make more sense to simply not enforce the law for people already here... sigggghhhh..... Why bother at this point. We had a good run, and now it's over.
 
While the immigrants build wealth and appreciate the opportunities that Canada affords them, whiney Albertan idiots do nothing but complain and blame others for their misery. I left Alberta NOT because of the immigrants who worked their way up from nothing, but rather because I was sick of the intolerant ignorant entitled idiots who think the world is against them while not appreciating the PRIVILEGE of living in Canada. Tell me how you think wealth, capitalism and a growth based economy exist without the exploitation of immigrant labour?

Just for repetition to really drive it home. If you are struggling living in Alberta, take a look at YOURSELF. The problem isn’t grocery prices, the problem isn’t housing, the problem isn’t trans people, the problem isn’t government, the problem isn’t immigrants. The problem is you. The problem is you. The problem is you.

I would be very surprised if he recieved any pressure from the federal Liberal party.

His riding is the only foothold they have in Edmonton, and it's one of their two ridings in the province.

I don't think he would resign as an MP, especially as a Federal election is coming up fairly soon anyways but his remaining is cabinet is certainly becoming an ongoing political liability.
 
I'm sure the Conservatives would actually love for Randy to stay. He really isn't helping the beleaguered Liberals already shaky election chances.
