They're putting up a permanent EPL logo right now, for a tiny splash of color:

The exterior material of Milner Library serves a functional purpose. Azengar zinc is an exceptional, eco-friendly, high-performance material. This cladding has thermal and reflective properties, to meet international standards for sustainable buildings, as well as the City of Edmonton’s commitment to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver standard. We also chose this zinc because of its corrosion resistance, weatherability, low maintenance and because it is completely recyclable.

We conducted extensive snow studies during the design phase to ensure snow and ice do not fall onto vehicles and pedestrians. There are small walls that prohibit snow from falling.

The revitalization will cost a total $84.5 million with our main focus on providing innovative and improved services in a renovated, energy-efficient community-centred public space. Our library will have a new Indigenous gathering space, a children’s library three times larger, a multi-storey interactive simulation wall, and a much larger maker space filled with the latest technology tools. In addition, we have increased study space, much more natural light, along with many other features.

We hope you will experience the new library for yourself when we open in spring 2020.
