I'm curious to see the older design for comparison sake.

New proposal averages 10 stories but it is staggered from 3 at one end to 17 at the other.

I appreciate this comment.
"We have thought, rather than build a 10-storey building that's conventional, we'd like to do something interesting, because it's such a prominent site," said architect Gene Dub.
"We think it's warranted to go through the expense to have an extraordinary design on such a nice site."

It's still a bleh design Gene Dub. Wish we could get some interesting architecture.

Whoops! It is? I didn’t think it was that tall…..my bad. I presumed he submitted a different proposal than this.

What’s the Community League El Presidente referring to as the “other proposal?” That this “new” one doesn’t “look as good.” Maybe that’s why I’m confused

There was an original plan for just townhouses and a low-rise.

Well the process is for feedback, so that's what they get. However, IMO people often seems to get overly preoccupied about height, on all sides.

The 17 storey design I feel actually looks quite good, although I wish it were back from the river a bit more.
