Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

On a more positive note there will be new routes to new destinations announced on or before 27th of October Speculate away.
Edmonton YEG- London Heathrow UK 🇬🇧 on the (AC) Air Canada Airbus A321 XLR plane ✈️ a few times weekly.

As AC starts up A321 XLR service spring of 2026 out of its Montreal YUL Hub.

YEG probably be 1 of the 1st destinations for this *new* AC Aircraft in Western Canada 🇨🇦✅.

According to flightradar24 -Edmonton YEG🇨🇦had a Turkish🇹🇷Airlines flight 204 operated by the Airbus A350-900 plane ✈️ from Seattle (SEA) US🇺🇸 to Istanbul (IST) Turkey, turning back & diverting at YEG on Monday September 29 2025 night.
Few weeks ago a (UA) United Boeing 777 was diverted to YEG.

YEG Airport is a good 👍 place for emergency diversion landings year round✅!

Ok I’ll bite…..Heathrow/Gatwick AND daily to ORD on UA AND we’re getting Condor back next Summer to Frankfurt!

I'll only speculate on international flights due to that orange idiot in the White House.
1. Non-stop flights to London: LHR or LGW, preferably LHR due to access to The Tube; preferably AC due to my Aeroplan miles otherwise any airline will do.
2. Non-stop flights to Tokyo: NRT or HND; any airline.

As much as I want an LHR/LGW, I genuinely don't think it will be that as WS doesn't have the aircraft, AC rejected the idea, and BA/VS just seem very unlikely.

I'm going to guess KEF on Westjet. I was surprised they haven't already done this after the rather large European 737 expansion they did this past season.

Aeromexico to Mexico City?

Delta, of course, maybe we’re getting Delta back instead of having to use its Peckerwood Proxy WJ to one of its Hubs?

If I were to guess I would consider who has an interline or codeshare with WS Air France, Korean and Condor.
Condor to Frankfurt (FRA) resuming (seasonally) 2-3x weekly again is a good 👍 possibility & they know the Edmonton Market already✅.

As the (AF) Air France/ KLM airline group work together on connecting its flights year round & they don’t usually add both AF & KLM international flight routes at “Smaller / Medium size airports” - good examples like : Calgary (YYC) , Las Vegas (LAS) & Edmonton (YEG) is only KLM to Amsterdam (AMS) with no AF service to either of the 3- (although YYC does have a daily nonstop service to Paris CDG on (WS) WestJet Boeing 787-9). Also Phoenix (PHX) has only Air France to Paris CDG -no KLM service.

Even Vancouver (YVR) a Larger size airport/ with more international passengers traffic, has both KLM & Air France service to AMS/CDG year round & (every winter season) see some cuts by both.

(KE) Korean Air increased their Vancouver YVR service to 11x weekly operated by the KE Boeing 787-10 not too long ago & YVR’s is their🇨🇦 market they focused on more✅.

I don't expect any additional transborder flight. So it will have to be Mexico and Central America or Europe. .

Yes. With Trump talking 51st state again and who knows how free trade talks will go in 2026, enough people are opting to avoid US travel - a big factor on transborder feasibility.

And the drop in transbrder traffic continues. Here is the most recent screened passenger data from Stats Can:
