I doubt that gambling is in decline @Stevey_G -- it is just that this location has been fairly isolated downtown (except on days when there are major goings-on at the arena next door). But now with hotels and condos and apartments connected by pedway, I expect their business will surge. They will probably rehire and expand their hours once again. Some studies show that, when the economy is depressed, gambling increases.

I dunno about that. I don’t know anyone in their 20s and early 30s that goes to casinos at all. But that’s just my singular point of view.

Just heard some more details about the demo of the Bacarat Casino and what the plans for the space will be from the OEG. I will share more details when I can

Last I heard they want to put a paved & landscaped parking lot on the northern 2/3s and a park on the southern 1/3. Has that plan changed drastically?

If its a media event, 3 possibilities come to mind... 1. an event whereby Edmontonians are made promises about the future -- a kind of rerun of past proposals, bringing them to the forefront as reminders ?, 2. an event whereby #1 is reiterated with the addition of some interim plans -- parking plus a park ?, or 3. the unveiling of a new tower structure and podium connection to existing towers -- the iconic structure that was once promised for this site, hopefully with a little more -- no, a lot more -- imagination than that which went into "tower B" ????‍♀️?‍♀️⭐????. Katz and crew have a real opportunity to enhance the public domain with some out-of-the-box thinking here -- some of the elements from the Galleria proposal, for example.
