ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

You have to be more than a "no" vote to get my vote -- if you have voted against the aerial tram, the bicycle/pedestrian bridge over 100th street adjacent to the Macdonald Hotel, and the Event Park Centre then you are off my radar altogether -- unless you have a dramatic alternative vision for downtown -- and Knack does not; neither does Janz -- bye, bye!

ICYMI here's a conceptual rendering of the event park

...You're eligible to vote?

Am I old enough? yes. I own a residence in the City so yes.
Age is only one of the criteria under Section 47 of the Local Authorities Election Act. Ownership of property is not a criteria for eligibility. Your place of residence -- i.e. where you actually live, sleep and intend to return when absent -- is the one you should be thinking about.

Have you been reading my mail? I am tying up loose ends for a move -- I have a major project in Alberta starting this fall. If I can make the move in time then I will be voting in the October election. That's all I can say for the present time.

"The preliminary work for the Village at ICE District, estimated at $68.2 million, will expedite the development of 2,500 new housing units and stimulate an estimated $1 billion in private sector investment. It will also lead to the creation of a new downtown park and enhance public streetscaping, including wider sidewalks and pedestrian crossings."

So a new downtown park - wonder where and what is being planned and more importantly who will own, operate and how much is being budgeted? After all if you announce this someone should have details.

This map, pulled from admin's CRL extension ppt, shows the proposed location:

And just for context, here's the preliminary phasing plan shown at yesterday's meeting (this is just for the servicing & does not necessarily indicate what buildings will get constructed first):

And just for fun, here's the original concept from when the plan was still for 4,500 units instead of 2,500. I could be wrong, but it seems like the "anchor building" it says that the park would have (for something like a market or restaurant) isn't part of the plans anymore. But we don't really don't know anything about the current plan beyond some maps, so who knows.
