Not in the least surprising -- I expect this will remain the solution for some time -- Katz may want to verify the draw of his Ice District courtyard -- and he has plenty of land to put up tower after tower well into the future. Based on this approach we may not see tower B for some number of years.

Asked about the future "Tower B" long planned for the site, Shipton indicated that the podium for Block BG contains the foundation and all the structural elements for a tower. "Currently we're assessing market conditions, we're still 18 months from opening the full campus on phase 1, to me it's a matter of when, not if, but we need to make sure we're in sync with the market before we start construction on the tower."

FYI a skating rink is definitely part of the plaza still. The plaza opens next summer.

The more that the City grows around the Ice District, the more valuable becomes Katz' land and the easier it will be to develop and sell space in all phases. Katz is in no rush -- his property will continue to rise in value.

Time to start a new project in Rossdale give Katz a bit of stress. Now just to get it out of the cities hands. Goodluck...

If Katz would hire some real talent, he could incorporate the property that he owns on 104th street (the piece with the construction trailers parked on it) into an "L-shaped" tower (lower levels) with two separate high-rises growing out of that above -- reconnected into a single tower on the uppermost floors. Other than Hariri Pontarini and the HOK-designed arena not much imagination on display -- 'twould be nice if he would surprise us. Once again -- huge opportunity missed.
