More and more I do think this building is on the better side of the spectrum of six-story stick-built apartments. It's mostly because of the windows.

Doesn't have be curtain wall, just have nice large windows and the design is elevated by 2x.

Windows help but visualize the building up against a sidewalk and curb without the treed boulevard and the story would be totally different.

Right, but that's not Westrich's doing, and there are other stick-builds along tree-lined streets that look worse.
