Photos from a recent tour I was a part of. From left-to-right: the view from the sixth(?) storey lookout; the north-face of the 1922 building, which now fronts an atrium; the restored ex-Medical Reading Room; one of two ex-lecture theatres. The last two are particularly interesting. Both of their ornate ceilings (the latter of which features a clearstory for natural lighting) were covered by drop ceilings for some fifty-plus years.

Edit: It was confirmed that the building would be open for Fall 2024.

From Clark Builders:

”Originally built in 1922, this historic landmark has undergone a massive renovation, including the demolition of the east, west, and north wings, and the construction of a new addition that is attached to the original structure. The project also included a new link and upgraded entrance to the South Academic Building, which is currently open for student and faculty use. All that remains on the project is the tenant improvements, which we are currently working on.”

I got a tour of this building this morning and I was too in awe to take any pics. It is absolutely stunning. Everything from the restoration of the 1922 building to the new glass tower and how it was incorporated into the old building is exceptional. This is an incredible project and will end up being the jewel of the university and something you want to bring visitors to the city to see.
