Alberta Politics

We now have a crank pot Premier that puts people outside of Alberta off, constantly trying to pick fights with the Feds and others.

Frankly, the rest of Canada doesn't take her seriously or want to deal with her (and also some people here feel that way too).

She is not reducing the frustration with the rest of Canada, she is making the problem worse.

What if the petition to remove her gets more signatures than for separation? Just a thought ...
If that happened it would prove just how stupid she is. She doesn’t think these things through. Kenney was smart enough to think these things through he made it so difficult it was almost impossible to get enough names on a petition

She's got demands for the Feds - don't you know! lol

Ric McIver has quit as Municipal Affairs Minister.

Are things falling apart? That's two Minister's now and the Speaker has been re-assigned.

Orrrr....is he angling to be the Speaker? That vote is coming soon.

I imagine it's a two-part approach, McIver could become Speaker and the new Minister could work to rebuild the relationships with local govt's, ABMunis and RMA ahead of the next provincial election.

That was quick.

McIver elected as new Alberta Speaker hours after resigning from cabinet

Alberta MLAs have elected veteran politician Ric McIver as the fifteenth Speaker of the province’s legislative assembly in a move that came hours after his resignation from cabinet was announced.

McIver won with a majority of votes over New Democrat MLA Heather Sweet, the only other MLA nominated for the role.
Seems a bit like the Ken Kowalski approach here, what do you do with someone who isn't helpful anymore but you can't quite get rid of either?

Sooo…

The headline says “Danielle Smith fumes over Mark Carney's cabinet choices”.

Hands up anyone who’s surprised or expected anything different regardless of who Carney’s choices would have been?

Hands up anyone who thinks this will help anyone take her recent invitation "to immediately commence working with our government to reset the relationship between Ottawa and Alberta with meaningful action rather than hollow rhetoric” seriously. 😞
