Oilers look armed and dangerous as playoffs approach

If you’re checking boxes before the playoffs, which is really the most important time to be checking boxes, the Edmonton Oilers are filling most of them at just the right time.
  • Hottest goalie in the league. ✅
  • Hottest scorer in the league. ✅
  • Playing their best hockey of the season. ✅
  • Contributions from all four lines. ✅
  • Five-on-five play is strong. ✅
  • Power play and penalty kill are both going. ✅
  • Home-ice advantage in the first round. ✅
  • Able to shrug off a loss and respond with a win. ✅
About the only area to be somewhat concerned about is health, specifically defenceman Darnell Nurse, but time will tell how that plays out.

Do you guys know what this means? This is a sign that we are winning the cup this year

What a huge win for the Orange and Blue. We put ourselves in a must win situation for Game 2 and we came through big time with a 6-0 victory over the LA Kings! First win in 7 playoff games for the team and we did it in dominating fashion. The frustration must've boiled over losing so many 1 goal games the team was flying tonight. Everyone stepped up, crushing the Kings physically and making sure to cool down Jonathan Quick. Not a single player looked out of place tonight, including Mike Smith who comes up big with his 5th career playoff shutout, what a huge bounce back from him after his game costing giveaway on Monday night. Draisaitl with goals in back to back games, McDavid continues to dominate all over the ice. Evander Kane potted 2 goals, Jesse Puljujarvi got over the hump at the right time and Darnell Nurse didn't show any rust tonight. Ryan McLeod got his first career playoff goal and not to be overlooked Jay Woodcroft gets his first career playoff win. Duncan Keith, who I have poked a lot of fun at this year has looked like a completely different player come playoff time, as has Evan Bouchard who has played as well in these 2 playoff games as he did in his junior career. We showed tonight that we can win in the playoffs, which is huge for every guy in that locker room. Even though we are no longer in the Coliseum it seems to me that the loudest NHL arena remains in Edmonton. We're heading to LA tied 1-1.

We got lucky last night and then rolled with it. That was a 3-1 win at best... and not demonstrating a team that wants it enough.

Here's hoping we realized that.
