    Battalion Square - Griesbach | 6s | Beljan

It's too bad the residential was scrapped. There's no shortage of medium density in the area and a well-designed piece would have fit well here. Either way, happy to see there's movement and I'm confident if anyone can turn this into a gem, it's Beljian.

NorQuest College Singhmar Centre for Learning | ?m | 4s | NorQuest College | DIALOG

Kinda frustrating to see a serviceable building getting demolished when Norquest is surrounded by a sea of gravel surface lots that would all be closer to the coming LRT stations.

    Lotus Park | 20.2m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

I'm more disappointed in it being only 6 stories than the suburban blandness of it. We have 6 stories with better finishing here in Griesbach. Westrich can do better downtown.

    King's University Campus Expansion | ?m | 4s | King's University | GEC

I'd love to see some pictures of that back when it was a hotel and CC.

    Londonderry Mall

That's a legitimate good addition. It'll draw a lot of people to the mall, who then may decide to shop while they're there.

Spruce Grove Metro Ballpark | ?m | ?s | Gold Sports And Entertainment

Ft Mac is full of examples of corporate greenwashing that don't make a lot of sense.

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

Rezoning is being voted on this week. I expect it'll pass easily enough.

ICE District Block IJ | ?m | ?s | ICE District Prop. | Next Architecture

Hawrelak is a terrible location for anything commercial with crowds. Fan Park location with access to multiple LRT lines and actual living people is a great choice, if they can mitigate enough sound to not brutalize people living in the vicinity too frequently.

    Charles Camsell Redevelopment | 39m | 8s | Five Oaks | Dub Architects

The good news is, anyone who was hoping to get a place in the Camsell when the project kicked off can just straight move into the lodge now.

    Charles Camsell Redevelopment | 39m | 8s | Five Oaks | Dub Architects

I doubt it. Inglewood is roughly 80 city blocks - about a dozen are medium density with the remainder SFH or no residential at all.

    MacEwan University School of Business | ?m | ?s | MacEwan University

Unless I've been misinformed, MacEwan owns some of the land for future expansion.

    Michener Park Redevelopment | ?m | ?s

    I dunno, needs more asphalt.

    Old Remand Centre Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Boyle Street | Manasc Isaac

You of all people should know that the cost of repurposing purpose-built structures is easier said than done. Not everything needs to be saved, and if removing something unusable allows for using the space for something better, that seems to be a better approach than letting it sit and deteriorate.

    Maclab Garneau | Laurent | Eleanor | 98.14m | 30s | Maclab Development

If I had to venture a guess, those parking lots are all unlicensed, print free money, and are not taxed for shit. Why would they bother doing anything with them?

    Battalion Square - Griesbach | 6s | Beljan

Seems to be lots of traffic coming and going from site. Makes me think there's a lot of interest. I hope so, north side is absolutely devoid of almost any character and this location is prime for something great, in the middle of a great neighbourhood.

    Jasper House | 108m | ?s

I like that it has some... texture? The devil will be in the details and how it's executed.

    Falcon Towers | 170m | 44s | Langham Developments | Arc Studio

I would be fine with the boring design if the rental prices were low. Budget building, budget rent. If the rents are high, it's a miss.

    Williams Hall | ?m | 7s | Beljan Development | Hodgson Schilf Evans

Sandman (parent Northland Properties) owns Chop (among many other chains), so they have a strong incentive impede guest access to competing restaurants. The food hall at Williams Hall would be direct competition and the connection would really offer little value in return. It is petty though...

    Williams Hall | ?m | 7s | Beljan Development | Hodgson Schilf Evans

If Williams Hall moves forward, I wonder what it would take for the Sandman next door to do something with their street-level facade? The SW corner of that block is one of the most bleak corners downtown.

BC now allows up to 18 stories using mass timber. Likely coming to AB at some point.
