    I wouldn’t want to live there, but in a car-centric city like Edmonton easy access to freeways would almost be a selling point.

    Not sure about Edmonton, but CT likely didn’t bid on Kingsway and St Albert as they’ve got existing stores just down the road from both malls. Don’t quote me on this either, but I’d assume there would be a provision in the lease with Toyota at WEM that would prohibit someone else from opening...

    Word is the two Edmonton Bay stores the Chinese billionaire in BC is taking over the leases for are Southgate and WEM. Will be interesting to see what she does with the Southgate store. That’s a huge footprint.

    Not surprising. I remember a couple years ago they got locked out of their store in Coquitlam for failure to pay rent, so this was likely standard practice across the country except for maybe a couple of their flagships.

    I miss the days where you could buy a bottle of water at that Staples so they could validate your parking while you went elsewhere.

    They’ll need to be competitive with their pricing if they want to fill the building. Yes, it’s close to Rogers and DT, but you need to walk through the sketchiest few blocks in Edmonton to get there. They won’t be able to charge going rates until that area sees a massive change.
