    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I wouldn’t count on it right now. Trump and his allies are already trying to redistrict the maps in red states to give themselves a leg up during the mid terms.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Even if people start booking transborder again, unfortunately I think it’ll be awhile until we get back the frequencies/routes back that were cut. I think the carriers will be more cautious for now, and just funnel people through YYC for transborder. We have an unpredictable orange baffoon down...

    Miscellaneous

Unpopular opinion, but not everybody works or has a desire to live in the core. These building are perfect for somebody who wants to rent and works in Acheson or an industrial park on the West End. Though I agree with everyone else that West 92 is ugly AF.

    Downtown Real Estate

If a 5-6 storey wood frame is needed to add residential to the Quarters I’d be ok with that.

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Great news if it’s not short-term. I’ve always preferred the late night screenings as opposed to 7 pm-ish because it still gives you time to unwind after work, eat dinner etc.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Porter has already turned off/disabled all refundable fares when booking for the near future. Don’t blame them though, they probably learned from last year when lots of people booked refundable fares during the (almost) pilots strike and they ended up flying half empty planes across the country...

    Southgate Mall

Not Edmonton, but Simons announced 2 stores for the former Nordstrom spaces at Yorkdale and Eaton Centre in Toronto back in June 2024. Both of those stores will be opening at the end of this month. And Simons is a department store that already has locations coast to coast and an established...

    Southgate Mall

They’re not wrong either. She may own three malls, but she’s just the landlord. Not saying I don’t like her concept, and an Asian style department store would be amazing to have here, but she has no realistic idea of the costs and timelines involved in opening up a 28 store department store...

    Connect Centre | 56.3m | 16s | ONE Properties | DIALOG

Hasn’t this been fixed now? About a month ago I was able to get my free 15 mins without having to input any credit card info.

Unless something has changed since then, back in June this was put this out for tender with hopes to break ground in October, but I haven’t heard anything since.

Even bringing back free street parking after 6 pm on non-event nights and on weekends would be a great start.

    West Edmonton Mall

The former Urban Outfitters space on L1 near the Ice Palace is going to be a “flagship” Miniso (whatever that’s supposed to mean lol) 🤦‍♂️

Not the best photo, but took it driving up 149th this afternoon.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Not everybody wants to wake up at 430 am to head to the airport. But to each their own.

    TBD | 22.06m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect - 10123-106st

I don’t mind the render, just wish there were an additional few floors.

    Southgate Mall

She is out to lunch with her timelines. The existing stores already require major renos and she expects to complete those, and execute her concept, plus have the stores open within 3 months. Good luck with that.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/hudsons-bay-ruby-liu-store-lease-locations-complete-list WEM and Southgate are on the list of HBC leases the Chinese billionaire wants to take over. Surprised to not see Yorkdale or Metrotown on the list as well.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I’d like to see a refresh of the North side of the domestic/international terminal so that it’s more in sync with the south end and transborder areas. But most of those gates are currently being used by the regional carriers and Flair so I don’t see that being a top priority in the near term.

    General Food & Dining Thread

I had it in Toronto a few years ago and thought it was good, but I’ve heard that the quality has gone downhill since they’ve gone into expansion mode.

    Bateman Lands Mid-Rise | 34m | 8s | Bateman Properties | Next Architecture

They’re looking to break ground in early 2026, but this has been delayed so much don’t hold me to it.
