    Alberta Politics

Honestly as someone who works in close conjunction with this sector of the political world. The current governing party has had genuinely no idea what to do and what their main proper priorities are since they got re-elected and even beforehand. I literally don't want to say more for privacy...

Honestly shouldn't even have gone into my field at all. I should've been a Sun/Journal columnist and I would be set for life lol

    Parking, Parking, Parking

Yeah I don't want to derail the thread some more since this is about parking and not the Municipal Politics one, but he's done some actions (WLRT as BRT) that made me raise an eyebrow, and the whole bypassing council (with Sarah Hamilton) on the UCP's task force concerned me extremely. As...

    Valley Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Exactly! I know we're jaded here by the constant delays and the screw ups, but I guess I'll be going ahead with optimism as to what this line will bring and how nice and transforming it'll be for the urban fabric of this city. We'll have TWO LRT lines that aren't in the middle of freeways...

    Valley Line LRT | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I was driving down most of the line here yesterday, and they seemed to be going full speed on simulating 6 min frequencies during peak hours. Super nice to see! No one doing dumb right turns on red were spotted for my entire trip. Honestly, it's a pretty line. Aesthetic wise.

    Parking, Parking, Parking

I have some strong misgivings regarding Cartmell personally. It won't be the end of the world if he does end up winning a term (he's not Nickel), but again some strong personal misgivings. But yes, Ashley has strong and good urbanist vibes and will have full support when she runs in the future.

    Parking, Parking, Parking

I've been pretty impressed with her so far and how much she's sticking to an urbanist lens on things. I still think she has a term or two more as a councilor but based on what I'm seeing from Sohi and just general vibes of how politicking goes (and from some anecdotal evidence/knowledge), I've...

    Parking, Parking, Parking

https://www.ashleysalvador.com/post/unpermitted-parking-lots-shouldn-t-get-a-free-pass Ashley Salvador seems to be making some more noise over this, so who knows if that gets a push towards more action on this issue.

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Okay so Boredom Post#2, I think we all remember seeing the CBRE report/article that had Edmonton go down places in comparison to 2022. I finally found their Tech Talent Analyzer that had job numbers based on employment fields. Here's a few other Canadian cities that are on the list...

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Got bored so I scrounged up a pretty recent CBRE investment report posted two days ago. Here's the PDF (https://mktgdocs.cbre.com/2299/933985cc-bfaf-4495-a6bf-5e7593817be9-1498070297.pdf). I'll share some screenshots below that pertain Edmonton too. Here's Calgary for comparison I guess?

    Edmonton summer festivals

Really curious to see the numbers for 2023! Last year was mentioned to be 14,000+ in attendance, and the growth seems to be exponential.

Saw them testing the train at like 9 PM yesterday in downtown as well! Hopefully a good sign?

    New Zoning Bylaw

I am extremely curious to see which councilors vote which way for this zoning bylaw. I'm not sure if I'm exaggerating but this is probably the biggest decision this council has in this entire cycle, and frankly a lot of other things they've done pale in comparison to the long-term effects of...

    New Zoning Bylaw

The fact that these absolute cretins had the gall to go "Vancouver's pricing issue is because of oversupply" makes my blood boil. As someone in their 20's, I'm frankly just livid at this point.

    New Zoning Bylaw

https://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-new-zoning-bylaw-will-worsen-housing-affordability-in-edmonton I'm not gonna lie, reading this made me so frustrated and angry, I hope to god they cry tears when this bylaw gets passed.

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

That's my train of thought as well. I'm not sure if the fact that most projects in the city and the core have been rentals has a larger positive effect for us from this policy change. Either way, let the rentals riseeeeeeee
