Multiple parking entrances cross the “just installed” bike lanes on the promenade side. I don’t know how you even consider parking crossing a side walk on what should be our destination Main Street. And yes I am aware that this happens elsewhere, but if we have the chance to avoid it…

Blatchford Development | City of Edmonton

As someone gets too dizzy spinning in circles patting their own back it’s easy to miss the point. There is ABSOLUTELY no point in me even attempting to explain when other posters have put it much better than I ever could and you’ve made it clear you are not open to any ideas that don’t provide...

I don’t remember, but didn’t they buy it for 5? And wasn’t it already a shell of a building at that point. I could be way off here though...

Blatchford Development | City of Edmonton

I’m not sure how superfluous stats are going to further the conversation. It is quite obvious that there hasn’t been a lot of construction in Blatchford. What’s also clear is that there are two competing viewpoints on Blatchford. For some Blatchford is a work in progress worth the time and cost...

    Edmonton summer festivals

Just my observation, and definitely not based on actual numbers, but city attractions and festivals seem to be very popular and well attended this year. Parking lots of the zoo and fort Edmonton are extremely full every day of the week. That being said, with the tents almost all up for Heritage...

Can someone put this where it’s supposed to go? (If it has its own thread lol) 109 and 124st

I don’t understand how the same people that praise Symphony tower can shit on this one when we don’t even have a finalized rendering. Symphony also has an extremely different front and back and is a hodgepodged stucco mess. I’m assuming that this low res early rendering is not doing a good job...

I don’t know why I’ve been taking photos with my shitty old iPhone when my husband has an iPhone 13 lol. What a difference!

There was a big crane there today, kind of looked like they were lifting trees up to the big terrace.

This has been questioned a few times in this thread. Closest we got to an answer was this… According to Google, alley to sidewalk is about 50m. Similar or bigger than Icon I. So this is not a small lot. If it is city owned, you would think they would get rid of it once LRT is done.

Was this building connected by pedway to the other buildings and LRT? Maybe they’re just maintaining the underground connections?

I like that they are starting the white lines on the balcony. I thought maybe they had scrapped it and the balconies looked kind of shit with out it.

    Canada Soccer

Large events like the olympics or the World Cup are known for cost overruns and negative legacies. In A tournament with as many host cities as 2026, depending on which teams Edmonton hosted, it would have had limited international exposure. But I think it would have been a positive for the...

    Canada Soccer

“That proved to be a miscalculation that hurt Edmonton’s bid. FIFA is like the mafia — it isn’t used to having cities make demands of it like that. You don't hold them up at knife point and try to dictate terms to them, which is essentially what the Alberta government did. The fact that the...

    Canada Soccer

Um, is the UCP’s ridiculous ask not 100% to blame here? They wanted three Canadian host cities but one of those cities was only going to be given provincial funding if given 5 very specific games leaving 5 games to be split between two much higher profile cities. STUPID. I don’t blame FIFA at...
