What countries have you travelled to?

Brazil - all 27 states. (Lived in 4 of them, including all of the 3 largest cities in the country).
USA - FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, NY, NJ, MA, NH, VT, PA, CT, LA, MO, IL and KS
Canada - ON, BC, AB and SK
Argentina - Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata Rosario, Bariloche, Mendoza, Puerto Iguazu and Cordoba
Chile - Santiago and Viña del Mar
Paraguay - Iguazu, Assumpción and Ciudad del Este
Uruguay - Montevideo
Colombia - Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bogota and Medellin
Peru - Lima
Bolivia - La Paz
Venezuela - Maracaibo
Panama - Panama City
Guatemala - Guatemala City
Australia - Melbourne and Sydney
New Zealand - Auckland and Wellington
UK - London, Birmingham

That, plus a 48h layover in Mexico City that I barely count.

I got lucky in life and have already seen more of the world than most people will ever do before I'm 30, and I'm grateful for that, but for the life of me, I want to see more, hahaha

I've toured most of South America (hence why I'm about done with the place) and a food chunk of the Americas in general. My next trips will probably be to the West Coast (mostly Seattle and Northern California + San Diego for a family wedding) in the US next year, and possibly Montreal for my birthday.

I've yet to go to mainland Europe, but it wasn't in the cards and the pandemic didn't help that (or my lack of funds, for that matter).
My next big goal is the Far East (Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan), that I'll probably do to celebrate the end of my wife's PhD, 3 years from now.

I also may be moving to get my PhD in ON or QC and will definitely use it to finish visiting the rest of the Canadian provinces.

It's been a few years since this, so it warrants an update.

I have since added:

USA: CA, MT, WA, MI, MN, WI, TX, AK and OR (for a total of 27 states, now. This number will, however, remain stable for the foreseeable future, as I don't plan on going back to the US anytime soon. They ain't seeing my money as long as the Cheeto Dusted Clown is in office)
Canada: QC and MB
Mexico: Mexico City (properly, this time)
Dominican Republic: Punta Cana
France - Paris, Marseille
Italy - Florence, Rome and Milan
Portugal - Porto and Lisbon
Spain - Madrid
Poland - Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan
Romania - Brasov and Bucharest
Bulgaria - Sofia and Burgas
Croatia - Split and Zagreb
Serbia - Belgrade
Turkey - Istanbul and Tekirdag

Most of it was for work, with the exception of Mexico city and Dominican Republic (and a few days in Burgas and Marseille)

USA - 30 states (mostly haven't been to the middle ones)
Canada - BC, AB, MB, SK, ON, QC, NS, NB
Mexico
Jamaica
St. Thomas
St. Maartin
Bahamas
Spain (including Mallorca)
France
Italy
Egypt (where my mom's from)
Tunisia
Vatican City
Monaco
Indonesia
Australia (including Tasmania)
Iceland

If someone is looking to drive in Portugal here is what they must know.
This missed a few things:

- traffic circles: anarchy. There are no rules. Watch out for Spanish tourists driving around the entire circle in the outside lane, and locals on an electric push scooter going 5 km/h on the inside lane.
- speed limits: just a formality. You’ll get stuck behind a horse and buggy, and then a few minutes later a Mercedes will fly by you going 50 over. Also, if you’re on a secondary highway, the speed limit literally changes every few kms.
- motorcycles and scooters drivers are the biggest dickheads you will ever experience. In other related good news, our friend who is a doctor says the organ donor waiting list is going down.
- Parking: next level innovation in ridiculous parking while expertly avoiding parking tickets. Recently in Lisbon, I saw a car who had jumped a curb and parked behind a bus stop in the middle of the sidewalk. It’s also essential to learn how to parallel park your car into a spot that is only 30cm larger than your car
- price of cars: whatever you would pay for a car in Canadian dollars, just swap it into euros and add another 5-10 grand. And gas is 1.70€/L ($2.74/l)

Countries I've been to consist of all 3 NA countries and many European countries (I just love Europe what can I say).

Speaking of countries to visit, can anyone suggest what country would be the easiest to fly into in Europe? I am hoping that I will be going to Europe sometime in 2026 with the intent of visiting Poland, but I am probably wanting to fly into a different country and then take the train to Poland and actually travel around Europe for a little while via train. By the way I really like trains.

If you like trains, Flying into Europe through Germany, Netherlands or France will scratch your itch, especially France and Germany.

I'd say Amsterdam is your best bet. I've done it a few times and it's great. Plus direct from YEG versus going via Calgary or Toronto. Access to the train from Schipol is easy, too. Where in Poland are you going?
In general I just want to visit Poland but specifically I am probably going to Southern Poland somewhere near Auschwitz. That area there is where my grandfather is from. Also I'm hoping to maybe go to Eastern Poland where my grandmother is from, although the one thing about that area where some relatives of mine live still is that it is also very close to the Ukrainian border.

One of 2 countries I would still love to get to. My mothers parents were from a region just to the SW of Krakow. My father came from a region in Romania that was Polish, I almost go there a number of years back when my wife was traveling for Sports. One of the women on her commission was one of Romania's greatest Olympian and Had invited us. But the timing just never worked. It would have been quite the experience to go to regions my family was from. As it is I did get to Germany France, Belgium, Switzerland , Italy, England. Russia, ( Eastern and Central Siberia) Australia, NZ, Tahiti, US (Most Major Centres, Alaska and Hawaii). Mexico, Corsica, Even though I got to the Major Centres a lot of the trips took us to alternate centres Like; Brandenburg, Ghent, Palermo, Leon. Also I have been throughout Canada, Most communities in Nunavut, NWT and Yukon. Funny I have never been to PEI.

Another option to consider with the KLM option is fly all the way to Poland from here via KLM with just one connection in Amsterdam. Then from Poland take the train with all the various stops you want on the way back to Amsterdam for return flight. If time or cost isn't a factor, then the train in both directions might be preferred.

My cousin's wife is from that area, Przemyśl. I'm from the southwest, near the Czech border. It's a beautiful country. I haven't been back since the death of the last grandparent but my husband would loooove to go. He's a history buff and if there's one thing Poland has in abundance, it's history.
Report back and share pics if/when you go!
