Edmonton Oilers

The second BOA of the season goes in Edmontons favour! Final score of 3-2 in a very close battle from start to finish. The Flames were well rested meanwhile we were playing our 3rd game in 4 nights on the road but we stuck with it and grinded out a win. I thought the Flames were the better team in the 1st and 2nd as they played to their strengths and were tenacious on pucks, luckily for us Stuart Skinner kept us in it and we end up coming out hard in the 3rd led by our captain Connor McDavid. He caught Markstrom out of position to tie the game at 2 and then assisted Zach Hymans 2nd of the game to take the lead. The D was a little shaky, Tyson Barrie had an absolutely awful game, but all in all we got the job done with a full team effort. Oilers now 4-0 this week and complete the road trip undefeated, we improve to 6-3 on the season and with how close everything is in the standings we actually find ourselves 3rd place in the entire league after tonight.

Next game is Tuesday at home against the Nashville Predators.

@Surrealplaces has paid for his sins 🤣

What a crap game.

The Oilers could not put a play together, the PP was horrendous and the D looked out of shape.

We are very fortunate to be in the spot that we are currently in.

Thank god for Skinny and McD.

Love going to the Dome though:p

I'm going to disagree with you honestly, I thought that was a good game. Doesn't need to be a score of 8-7 to see some good hockey, Oilers looked tired at times for sure but at the end of the day it was a very even game, both teams had their chances, hit some posts, we just had a bit more puck luck last night. Flames had the edge for the first 40, but the Oilers played a much better 3rd. The PP was ok, it did score a goal, however due to Tyson Barrie it also let in 1 and almost 2. PK for the first time this year did not let in a goal so the Flames PP was no better. Calgary finished the night with an edge in possession, the Oilers had more scoring chances.

The only thing that Flames had a big lead in was shots on goal, which is result of them shooting from everywhere meanwhile the Oilers look to make fancy plays to generate the best chances possible. This is common with Edmonton, we are typically outshot/allow a lot of shots but manage to generate more high danger scoring opportunities than our opponents. We are coached this way, it plays to the strength of having the 2 best playmakers in the entire league, it is a good thing, it wins us games.

Overall I think the Flames are a slightly better team, but it's going to be a great matchup if we see each other in the playoffs again!

A young fan flew over from Germany to see his idol Leon Draisaitl play, good guy Leon found out about it and had a stick personalized for him. What we often forget with McDavid on the team is that in Europe and Germany especially Leon is the beloved star, he's a big part of the game of hockey growing in Europe.

Lots of articles today about how “lucky” the Oil were last night due to some “lucky bounces,” etc. the worst was the amateur hour from an “author” from Yahoo sports

The "Daily Faceoff?" has the Leaves ranked 11th and the Oil at 14?!!!! Yet at TSN, we're the top ranked Canadian team at #5.

Everyone has different opinions and rankings, what actually matters is the standings where we are doing quite well. I think we're probably between the 5th and 8th best team in the league at this moment, the Leafs are far behind after the last 4 games they've had.

Kane with a hat, McD with 4pts, Drai with 5.

Campbell was not sharp, but also left out to dry for most of them.

Nashville ain't great, but they have some sneaky talent.

That's five in a row!!!
