Does anyone know the current status of this project? I understand that construction was halted while preparations were made to search a portion of the site for unmarked graves, and the resulting survey didn't turn up anything. Has work resumed since then, or have they re-evaluated their plans?
Jasper Avenue will continue to be a busy, highly trafficked thoroughfare if we continue to build it as a busy, highly trafficked thoroughfare. Build it and they will come, as the saying goes.
If we treat it like a multi-modal high street with an emphasis on forms of travel other than cars...
If we had a robust transit system serving Jasper Avenue and the surrounding areas, then road traffic would likely decrease substantially. 102 and 100 Avenues do not run the length of the built-up areas around downtown.

I'm starting to notice this more and more, but why do single-story strip mall type retail buildings always feel the need to have, like, 12 foot ceilings minimum? Half of that building's height is beige dead-space.

I was in the area on Friday. The surface parking lot is closed, and the whole site is fenced off. I had planned to park there so I had a bit of a change of plans, but I took it to be a good sign. I'm glad I wasn't wrong!
As far as I can tell from the article I read, it would only be two additional stations: Twin Brooks and Ellerslie. It doesn't include a full extension to Heritage Valley, which I suppose is the aforementioned future phase.
