Federal Politics

so you need to soothe them into listening to you.
An Economic lullaby...
Psychiatrists say
it can Stimulate development of language (👍 his vocabulary is lacking; may be less than a thousand words)
it can Foster bonding and attachment (👍 presently he only thinks of himself)
it can Enhance your baby’s sense of spatial awareness (👍 ballrooms and concrete patios; a limited view of the potential of space)
it can Promote self-regulation and self-soothing (👍 maybe then he can lose the diapers and stop making a stink out of everything he touches)

I'm sure the negotiation teams are still at it. But Ford doesn't help. Trump will come out tomorrow and say we have a great beautiful agreement, and it will turn out to be the same agreement we started with.
Those commercials seem to have really hit a sore spot for Trump. The problem is some people in his party still like Reagan and believe in free trade, so he really wants to shut this message down.

Its not quite as bad as trying to get rid of a late night tv show host, but it is the exactly type of message control autocrats focus on. If you don't like the message shoot at the messenger.

I get the sense that Ford is not the sharpest tool in the shed (unless we are comparing him to the Orange in which case he is rapier witty)

Well at least Ford isn't taking multi-million dollar payments from the public purse or from the private sector to access the public purse and isn't using a personally controlled "media outlet" to disseminate half-truths and lies. He's also not shutting down his government to try and run it by decree and he's not using the court system to stymie government and government institutions and he's not tearing down part of the legislature to build a big party room... I could go on but everyone can already populate a much longer list than this.

All this latest temper tantrum proves is that Trump will say and do whatever he wants whenever he wants to further his own agenda and if it wasn't Ford's commercials (which probable show more guts that either the Democrats or the Republicans are prepared to use in their own country to defend their own country), he would have found something else to try and make Canada a 51st state or get us to pay for his Golden Dome.

Yes, if it wasn't this he would have come up with some other excuse. He isn't very burdened by the truth, so it could have been anything.

As for the additional 10% tariff, I take it as a sign that Trump's "negotiations" were not going well (ie. he wasn't succeeding in shaking down our PM to get what he wanted), so he will try use this as more pressure.

However, the more he raises tariffs on imports the more he increases costs to US businesses and customers, so they may push back more.

I will point out that I have been heavily criticized in the past, by a few in this forum, for a supposed "anti-americanism". Turns out I was not too far off in saying Canada should divert from its ultra reliance in the US, and that they were always more of a threat than most people considered them to be.

Canadians have a very high popularity among Americans (and anecdotally I run across that all of the time). To "hate" a people because of their leader (transient as this one in the U.S. is bound to be) shows a rather deep-seated prejudice that is a character flaw that ranks among the worst of societal ills.

He was democratically elected. It's difficult to absolve the populace from consequences for their collective actions.

Could the same be said for Albertans and their governmental choice, or Argentinians and their governmental choice, or Brazilians when they selected their previous leader... you see where I'm going with this. What if everybody "hated" Albertans because of their governmental choice; would that sit good with you? Prejudice is ugly no matter how it is applied or rationalized.
