They are going to have to install crossing arms to protect the trains. I imagine the cost to repair a train is much greater than the cost to repair a truck and there are a limited number of trains. I appreciate that they want it to integrate into the community as much as possible, but at the end of the day, Transed and by extension the City, need to protect their assets.

I imagine it'll take a while to process, but the truck driver's insurance should be covering this, shouldn't it? I mean, if it was their fault then why wouldn't it? Unless TransEd took the broke college student route and just got minimum liability insurance

I think Edmonton might have to come up with a mix of lights and crossing arms, like Waterloo. Residential areas can continue with the lights, but some crossings along 75 Street might need crossing arms because of no compliant drivers.

The semi truck one is absolutely inexcusable given they’re a professional driver. Take their license away. If you can’t avoid driving into the side of an LRT, you have no business behind the wheel of a tractor trailer.

Yesterday, as I was making a left turn on a green arrow, I saw someone turn right seemingly oblivious to me.

I was close enough to see their phone held up right in front of their face. I think that explains a lot of the stuff that happens these days.

I think those bright flashing "TRAIN APPROACHING: NO RIGHT TURN" lights on University Ave at 114 Street are sufficient in these situations.

Thankfully you don't need to worry, for the opening of this line won't be until flying cars are prevalent; problem solved.

Probably not dead, at least not so far. Just a big repair bill, higher insurance rates, a fine and everyone thinks you're a twit. However, that really should be enough.
