The Meridian Plaza development on 111 Street NW in Oliver could be complemented by a taller sibling tower, according to a planning application submitted to the City. The land at 10126 111 Street NW between Jasper Avenue and 102 Avenue, currently home to a surface parking lot and a one-storey commercial building, has been targeted for redevelopment.

The technical reports currently under review suggest GMH Architects has designed the 22-storey proposal. The firm is the same architect behind the ten-storey Meridian Plaza just to the south of the development site, which would be attached to the new building at ground-level. Commercial uses along the main floor would face 111 Street NW, while the tower, with a maximum height of 81 metres, would contain up to 163 residential units. A maximum of 26 bicycle parking spaces have also been eyed for the property.

The City accepted the rezoning and plan amendment on January 19 and began circulating the application to other departments in July. The City also sent out notices to residents and the Oliver Community League on August 8. A public hearing date has not yet been scheduled.
